Performance Benchmark
The taste of blood fills my senses and sweet pours down my face . I look to see if my legs are still there or if they have been replaced with sacks of led. Then I realize it, I'm at the top. I just climbed over a kilometre of rooty, rocky, twisty single track; the rubber just kept rolling. I was clipped in the whole time, my feet never hit the dirt once. This same section of trail is notorious for zapping the energy out of riders and stalling momentum dead on one of the roots. This little piece of 'trail hell' is perfect for gaging my performance throughout the season. It's like the marks on a thermometer, I know how hot I am by how far I make it up. Every few weeks we will take on this climb, and every time I tell myself "I will make it farther then last time ." Now here I am at the top and I didn't even know it. As the oxygen returns to my lungs a feeling of euphoria over comes me, I feel so alive. Totally aware of my environment, for a brief moment I'm one with the forest. I wish it could last forever, but then I remember "hey, I get to go down hill now... Yesssss!"

Old and In the Way
Here it is, my first video ever. So you will have to cut me some slack. The camera I used is really bad. it was on its highest quality and it still got very grainy. I think it is because it is only a 4.0 mega pixel. I also need to chop the tape more as the spacing between riders is too much. Still better than many I have seen. Greg you have inspired me to do things I thought I would never do. (spend 4 hours in front of a computer cutting tape)

Burning Daylight
The next two week of riding we will have the most hours of daylight. As June 21st marks the summer solstice. What can we do with all these big long daylight hours? I'll tell ya! You can keep going and going. So lets pile it on and no-one goes home until dark!
Also the solstice marks the first 24 hour race of the year from Chico Racing here in Ontario. North America's Largest 24 Hour Mountain Bike Event! The 24 Hours of Summer Solstice at Albion Hills Conservation Area, Bolton, ON Sat-Sun, June 26 & 27, 2010. Last year Myself, Wayne, Dave, Marlon, Roland and Nick enter the event, other then a but-load of rain and mud It was a lot of fun. So if your interested go to Chico's website an check it out or even sign-up. Just make sure your team name is Cancel that $#!%

Connecticut Chapter
If you go to our members page you will come across Ed Neeb. Now you may say... "Why have I never seen this guy?" well that is because you haven't. Ed lives in New Milford Connecticut USA and is the club captain of the CTS Connecticut chapter. His group, like us, shear a passion for the single track. So, take some time and have a look at our brothers down south Old And In The Way Maybe someday we could plan a road-trip down, and Ed can give us a tour of some Connecticut trails.

Getting Bigger & Better
Great ride tonight boys. (I only say boys because it was only the guys out tonight we were missing our lovely CTS ladies). Tonight's ride was a new recorded for CTS, 24 riders out for one ride, and that was without 6 of our regulars. WOW! It is go good to see all the new faces, plus to get a rare glimpse of our invisible rider "Rick the Honey DeJong" who was out for his first ride of the year. Please, continue to join us, all are welcome.
The pace of tonight's ride was GREAT! even with all the newbies, we were moving, and Wayne took us down some sweet single track I have never been on. It was a perfect ride. There is nothing better then great friends and and sick single track. Keep it commin, Go CTS Go!

The Mountain Bike Slang Dictionary
Hammering down this half-track the engine took a quick look at his gutter bunny to see where he was, and missed seeing a death cookie. Causing him to endo hard. Making him first blood of the night and have bacon on is elbows for weeks.
Mountain bike culture is as diverse as any sport. With that comes a verity of slang. To help out the CTS / MTB newcomer I found this very cool and fun Mountain Bike Slang Dictionary. Check it out.
